About Us

We are the pioneers of mechanised underwater timber recovery

Our journey began in 2014 when our founder, Rashwin Singh Thind, started exploring the potential for recovering underwater timber in Malaysia.

After years of planning and development, a concession was granted in Sarawak, Malaysia, on the island of Borneo.

Today, Tree Rivers has concession areas totaling 114,874 acres, which is more than half the size of Singapore.

These concessions have been the main passage for billions of tonnes of timber over centuries.

What is Underwater Timber

Underwater Timber is the name given to logs that that have sunk down to the bottom of the river during transport and storage, or trees submerged by the construction of hydroelectric dams.

The lack of sunlight, pests, & oxygen preserves these timbers and can give them a unique appearance and superior strength and durability characteristics.

Sunken Logs  – lost during transportation and storage in lakes, rivers and other waterways.

Submerged Trees –  flooded during the construction of man-made reservoirs (i.e. dams for Hydroelectric Power Plants and Irrigation projects).
